This year the support race for the 76th running of the Le Mans 24 Hour race features many of the cars that fired the enormous upsurge of British interest in the French classic in the 1980s and 90s.
Thanks to support from Bluebird Care and American Motorhome Rental, Radio Le Mans is the only broadcaster to be airing full, live coverage of qualifying sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, plus the whole race on Saturday.
The mere mention of Group C racing still brings a wry smile to the faces of most Le Mans spectators. This was the era that pitted the iconic Porsche 956 and 962 against new cars from major manufactures Jaguar, Mercedes, Aston Martin and Nissan as well as bespoke racing car builders Spice and March.
Bruce Jones and Joe Bradley will be in the pits and paddock, Charles Dressing will be taking a detailed look at some of the most important cars in the event. The commentary team, Jim Roller, with expert assitance from Paul Tarsey will be describing all the on-track Group C action for Radiolemans' huge global audience.
